What a great topic…I felt guilty about thinking “I would never do this on paper, so why do it digi”.
So I really dig that others felt the same way.  That said, I think peppermint has to be the coolest digi scrapper with her realistic, dare I say cynical, view point.
I am all about using naked buttons.  I don’t like the bulk they have on the page because of the thread.

    Hi All!
I just wanted to chime in on the “re-listening of past episodes.”  I’m not sure who said it, but I think it may have been Steph…”you guys are ahead of the average scrapper when it comes to technology” although this may have been said jokingly, I completely agree. So what happens with me, is that when I finally catch up to your technology, for example, when I finally got my iPad, I re-listened to older episodes to hear what you had said about them, and listen/buy/subscribe to the stuff that you have recommended (confession – I didn’t really FULLY listen the first time when it didn’t apply to me). So when I finally get my first Mac (NEXT WEEK!!!), or when I FINALLY get my first iPhone, you can be sure that I will being doing the same thing.  Scrapping in my craft room, and listening to your podcast over and over again.
Thank you for being such an invaluable resource, I subscribe through iTunes to both podcasts, I am a member of Paperclipping AND the TheDailyDigi.

A great show as always, but what I really wanted to comment on is Steph’s pick of the week – Digiscrapapalooza!  I’ve put down my deposit and reserved my room and I’m super excited (and best of all my husband is staying home with the kids – talk about a vacation!)  I really hope you all come and do a live podcast – maybe a panel discussion on the future of digital scrapbooking?  Keep up the good work and I can’t wait for the 50th episode!

Thanks so much I was just looking for this and could find it. Wondered if there was a link here.

Love this conversation — and now I’d love to hear folks talk about: “Going there: putting digital sticks (and such) on your layouts and loving it.” i.e., how do you make it work? because I think more and more of us who wouldn’t have done that now are.

I LOL’d at the Instacast pick. I’d hands down recommend it too. Love that app, use it every single day, recommend it to anyone I know that listens to podcasts. Great pick Izzy!

Katie, thanks for mentioning the lack of brads in digital scrapbook products. As a paper scrapper and card maker brads were one of my go to products and I’m very frustrated by the lack of digital brads (both in kits and as element packs). I have a few that I have tagged in ACDSee but I would love the variety of color, sizes and shapes that I had as a paper scrapper. I just tweeted about this very issue a couple of weeks ago and love that I am not the only one who has noticed this.

Anything happening in Europe – London perhaps? :) I feel so far, literally and metaphorically, from all the scrappy and craft folks in the USA. I don’t think it’s a “big” thing here in Europe, yet…unless you live in a major city…it’s hard to find products and classes!

Loved the episode, as always. I would like to say that (in my opinion) putting branches, leaves, wheelbarrows, etc. on your layouts can be just fine. I never thought they were necessarily to be viewed as “real” items, but stickers or cut-outs.

I have sooo much to say about this topic! I´m a paper scrapper, but I do dabble in digital, and I love designing digi kits! It is just something that I can not do in paper!

As I´m listening to this episode for the third time, (and yes, I listen to all episodes, of both the Roundtable and the Digi Show, over and over again) I keep talking back to you. So, I´ll just write a comment instead.

About the bulky block alphas. We do have them in paper, designed by Tim Holtz. They are made of Grungeboard, and are quite thin. We can use paints and inks to make them look just like the original, but without the weight and bulk of the real thing. http://tinyurl.com/6zwrp4e

I know that there are stickers available that has images of real wheal barrows and such..

Prima makes twigs and stuff that looks really good on a LO. They have wires inside of them so that you can twist and bend it the way you like it… http://tinyurl.com/63lotsf

When I make a bulky LO and want to add my journaling or title on top of other embellishments I use trancparancies to write/stamp/add alphas to. That way I can place them wherever, even on top of flowers!

Also, what I ment about my comment about the Wacom Tablet was that there is no point in buying the really cheap one that I bought. (it was way cheaper than the Bamboo) It was not good at all, but it did justify the upgrade to my wireless Intuos 4 that would have been difficult if I had a more expencive Bamboo tablet to begin with.

Hi, Just listened to this show and wondered if Izzy has heard about the new Apple “Lion” and IOS5 that is coming out. So many wonderful upgrades but what related this episode is that the  Iphone and Ipad will no longer have to be linked to the computer to get your podcasts etc through ITunes. With the ICloud we will not have to link our devices anymore!!!!!!

Yes, I think we need more digi brads :) Glad I’m not the only one!

I liked this episode, even though I have never paper-scrapped.  I don’t have too much of a problem putting sticks and greenery and big flowers on my paper (any more than anything else, I guess — I am kind of an embellishment-minimalist!).

Here’s one that I had a hard time understanding at first, though — putting, say, a twisty ribbon or big embellishment OVER your digital journaling.  I suppose you could do that in paper, but with digital, it’s not like you can move the ribbon out of the way on a printed copy in order to see what’s written!  But then again, many times enough journaling is shown that you can fill in the obscured words and letters — and besides, I suppose there are scrappers out there that create not to put things in books forever but more as “scrap-therapy.”  So I suppose I can understand why others might do it.  For me, though, I try to avoid that at all costs!  :-)

So cool that you read my comment – thanks again for the episodes! ~Jen
