Sorry for the technical issues – have you heard of Google Voice? I use it to call home because all USA numbers are free to call.

I just discovered the paperclipping digi show about a month ago, and I’ve been going back in iTunes and listening from the beginning. I just finished listening to the show about creative teams (does that feel like a blast from the past?) and one of the panel members mentioned a flickr group in passing. I’m kinda new to flickr and was wondering if you have ever done a show on the wonderful world of flickr, it’s benefits for scrappers, and good groups/discussion forums to participate in.

Hopefully by the end of the summer I’ll be caught up with the “real time” digi show..although I’ll probably have to go through therapy for withdrawal, as I listen to 2-4 shows a week now!

Chiming in… Presets refers to anything in Photoshop that can be saved to used later. It’s a larger category that includes brushes, styles, swatches, gradients, patterns, contours, custom shapes and tools. Go to EDIT>PRESET MANAGER to see all your presets. From the Preset Manager, you can load, delete, reorder, rename and otherwise organize your presets. So, styles are just one “preset” you have in Photoshop. Elements doesn’t have as many presets, but you find them in the same place (EDIT>PRESET MANAGER).

I know of a few users who have used Expression Media for digiscrap tracking. It’s definitely an investment price-wise, but from what I understand, it’s very feature rich.

I’ve talked about flickr a few times in the show, I’m a flickr fanatic! You can read my flickr article at The Daily Digi at

I just wanted to share an alpha maker option for Paint Shop Pro users. Since we can’t run Photoshop actions. I know it always bums me out to hear about something cool in PS and not know how to get something similiar in Paint Shop Pro. There is a Paint shop pro script by SuzShook that will make a sheet of alphas from a font. The best part is the script is free to download. You can find in here
    http://suzsplace.com/8scripts/ss-MakingAlphas.htm
It doesn’t have all the features of Flergs action but other scripts can be applied to the letter sheet.

  • Flergs

I’ve discounted all products that were discussed during this show until May 20th @ Studio Flergs.

    Oh Izzy 2 weeks??
At least Phill and I were going out for 8.5 weeks before we got engaged! (Long distance relationship too so we’d only seen each other in person like 10 times or something before we got engaged!)
We just had our 4th anniversary (1 child and 3 house renovations later we are still very happy!)

I love the magic extractor tool – here’s a tutorial I did about it! :)

@0c942a9d7e01c78633c027bb2e6ee890:disqus  When I click on your link I get this message “Sorry, your search returned no results. Try again with different criteria.”

Hi, thanks for another interesting show.  It would be great if someone could keep a list of links to items mentioned during the show and post it with the show notes. I tried to google the scrap actions mentioned during this show but because of the technical difficulties I was unable to hear the full name (I listened a few times but still couldn’t catch it)  You said it was like watching someone scrap your photos and that was intriguing…. but I can’t find it.  I know you won’t leave me hanging, so thanks in advance.

Oh Izzy, you made my husband happy when you said you were “selling” your iPad because after hearing that I came in the house to tell him I no longer wanted an iPad and wanted a Kindle to read with.  The reason I wanted one was because of ebooks from scrapbookers and PDF’s to store. Now we will see if I get one or not.  I have a questions for digital scrapbookers.  I want to start doing my month in review albums digitially, using Cathy Z templates (like Katie does). I did the one traditionally last year but I worry about space in a few years with so many albums. Anyways, have you ever left a blank page in your printed albums to put in memorbilia. I know I can scan in the items and use them but it just seems like another step. Any thoughts on this?    Love the show ~Ann from Minnesota

You can find the alpha action at Pickleberrypop by Anna Forrester
Wendyzine is the ScrapIt actions (that scrap for you) and she is at Scrapbook Graphics

Don’t listen to Izzie.  The iPad is wonderful for scrapbookers, and if you want to read Scrapbooking eBooks and PDFs, then you’ll be sorely disappointed reading them on the Kindle.  No color!  I waited patiently for the first iPad to be released because I wanted to read all of my color content in color, not B&W, and I’ve never been disappointed.  I can read for hours and hours on my iPad without eye strain, and I have middle aged eyes!  I’m going on a year now since receiving my first iPad for my b’day last May, and I now have the iPad 2.  LOVE IT!!  Don’t listen to Izzie.  Sorry for repeating myself.  ;)

This is a technical question.  I’ve noticed that I can view the comments for each of these posts just fine using Internet Explorer but not at all when using Google Chrome as my browser (which is my default/preferred browser).  Has anyone else run into this and if so, is there a fix (other than using IE)?  I tried searching the Disqus site but didn’t come across any information.  Thanks!

  • Digiscrappergirl

I use firefox with now issues.

Greetings all.  I haven’t had a chance to listen to the show yet, but I’m thrilled to hear you’ve been talking about me :)  If anyone has any questions on how to use or install my scripts please email me – I am happy to help.

And just to let you know, I’ve left my whole store on 30% off sale at the moment… http://www.pickleberrypop.com/shop/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=76

    Thaks, Meg! Love ‘em.

I don’t use an iPad. But I agree with iDebbie if your purpose is for
scrapbooking eBooks and PDF’s. Izzy has found that he doesn’t really read a
lot of that kind of stuff. I use the Kindle, but that’s because I mainly use
it for novels. The iPad is the way to go for visual stuff. Izzy will say the
    same. :)

I have no idea why that would happen.  I’m wondering if your java in Chrome is up to date?  Katie uses Chrome and I know she can see the comments.

  • Anonymous

I’ve wondered if Google Voice would work.  I’ll have to ask Izzy.  Do you ever have connection issues with it?

  • http://www.BackToPaper.com Linda Tieu

I’ve never had issues, but I’ve never tried multiple people…

  • Sierra Beaton

I ran a manual update of Java and that seemed to do the trick.  Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Amjohnson

Okay so do you have an opinion on the Nook Color. For me the iPad is so much money for what I actually will be using it for. Until my photo program becomes iPad compatable I really don’t use my computer for much more for scrapbooking.  I just want to read my ebooks.  Any thoughts.

I print my layouts in photobooks and have been known to leave blank pages for adding physical stuff. Especially in books that are gifts, I will leave a page with empty spots for journaling and let family or friends hand write messages in it. Tucking in a real object or two would be easy enough if you plan for it. Go for it!

  • Suzeq18

My friends looked at me like I was crazy for selling my Ipad. It’s a wonderful piece of technology…and definitely a must to read and look at things…beautiful colors. Just didn’t work for what I needed. So I sold it bought a Kindle, which I love and now carry everywhere and haven’t looked backed! In short, thank you Izzy for putting into words what I was feeling about my Ipad…guess I’m not so nuts after all.

  • Krisbeauregard

I think this may have been a question that has been asked before, but is there a way to “unzip all” when you download digisupplies?

    Thanks!

  • Nicole Seitler

I use 7-zip (a free download) which gives me that ability (I just select all the files I want to extract and I can choose “Extract Here” when I right-click). It also is great at solving multiple little issues–like when a PC doesn’t want to read a Mac’s files…

    Hope that helps!

Izzy!  I’m not doodling without a license!!!  Zen doodling has been around for a few decades; Zentangle is the trademarked method of specific patterns using a rectangle, hence the “-tangle.”  But, all other methods are still copyright free.  It’s easy to come up with patterns of your own; there is inspiration all around.  Here’s a neat video:http://www.youtube.com/user/Milliande#p/u/27/7Sf3ADPm7zY

Hey…I want you to know that I’m generally not someone who tries all the “featured” products in any article/show.  But the one thing that you mentioned that is a MUST MUST have is this Tumasoft Preset Breeze.   It’s such a must must that you should have Betsy Tuma on.   I mean, I had been trying to do this viewing in ACDSee but the Preset Breeze is sooooo much faster.   Buy new stuff?  Just rerun the search and it all pops into their file extension categories.   I don’t need the fine fine categories I created in ACDSee…I’ll live with Preset Breeze and let it do the work.

What would make this software perfection:
    - allow me to see all my paper samples at once in the .jpg search folder.  If I open a regular folder that contains a bunch of paper, it shows all the papers at the same time so that I can pick and choose.  But when it’s in the .jpg search folder, you can only see them one at a time.  :(

    - Allow the search process to ‘auto search’ by key words in the file name.  Example…let me choose to have a search folder based on the word “paper” in the file name or “clip” in the file name.  Then, display all of those “papers” or “clips” all at once so that I can compare and choose.   I want to find all my ribbons, my paper clips, brads, bows, frames etc.  By allowing me to search for them, as I buy new kits, I can perform the search again and it’s DONE DONE DONE.   WHOA!

    - Wouldn’t it be nice to label the file types like instead of “ASE”, label the thing “ASE – Swatches” or “ABR – Brushes”.  Maybe you can’t label PNG and JPG since you don’t know those.  But Swatches, brushes, custom shapes etc…they are what they are for everyone.

    - Maybe a quick youtube video showing the coolness.  I should have chosen the folders to search so that I can see the Adobe provided stuff and the stuff I bought.  Instead…it tried to search my entire system.  :(  Show me that I can drag and drop an item from PresetBreeze to Photoshop.

Couldn’t you invite Betsy on the show to tell us about this and how she uses it???  And what about affiliate link???  I didn’t see one, but I’m sure the show sold many copies…

  • Char

Anna – I am wondering if this script would work with .tiff files instead .pngs?

    C

  • Myranalis

Not as it is now but i can change it to easily enough. I assume you mean a layered tiff with the whole alpha in the document rather than individual tiffs? Anyway email me at myranalis at hotmail dot com.
