Paperclipping Live Archives

We had Lain Ehmann on as a guest to share her new book, Snippets–funny stories about being a scrapbooker. You can order her book on Amazon and at Creating Keepsakes. Creating Keepsakes also has a Sneak Peek on the book, which you’ll want to look at in order to participate in Lain’s drawing, which will be on the Paperclipping blog by tomorrow.
I also shared my favorite Christmas products for this year and we heard from the chat room what everyone else is enjoying.
Plus, a special idea from Ibis for a gorgeous over-sized envelope.

Tonight we made holiday cards with scraps from last year’s patterned paper and pages from an old unloved book.
I also reviewed an acrylic album by www.myacrylicalbum.com and we gave out a 20% discount to their store, good until Nov. 30, 08. You can get the coupon code for the discount by watching the show!

Liz and Jackie from IllustratingStories.com were my guests tonight. In addition to running a fabulous and informative website on scrapbooking, they also design and sell digital products and kits, many of which they shared on the show tonight. They also shared some great tips on storing, using, and backing up digital products.

This is a follow-up from Episode 59 of Paperclipping. I shared principles on matching patterned paper, and I put together a very eclectic mix of papers. For this live show I turned those papers into a layout.

I was feeling a bit hyper tonight…just to warn you ahead of time. =) I worked on the layout that I did beginning preparations on last week. There were two major pieces I wanted to use with colors that didn’;t really go together–see what I did to make it work (hopefully). Also–LOTS and LOTS of talk about food, esp. vegetarian food. Be warned.

Two call-in guests shared layouts about themselves and how they picked design elements to help tellthe story. I shared a photo and story from my childhood and shared the color/visual symbol associations that I have toward that story. I picked out some possible patterned papers to go with and and demonstrated some basic painting, color-blending techniques.

For tonight’s show I demonstrated two easy and doable techniques. One will use up all your leftover letter stickers, and the other will add lots of bubbly goodness to your layout.

Dedra Long and I have our own styles, distinct from each other. We thought it would be interesting to shop together at our local scrapbook store, choose some products we both like, and see how our resulting layouts would compare. We completed our layouts during tonight’s show.
