Show Notes: Paperclipping 25 – Layering Embellishments
Introduction: I want to add my parents’ initials to my mini-book page but it looks boring and there is nothing tying the colors of the letters to the background paper and photo.
1. Add a background layer (or first layer) before adhering the initials.
a. Background layers can be standard shapes like circles, squares, rectangles.
b. Background layers can be organic designs like the one I chose to use for my page. It not only makes the embellishment area more interesting, but the brown design, which is overlapping the photo, also ties the brown letters to that photo.
2. Adhere the initials to the background layer.
3. A third layer could be to add embellishments to the letters themselves. My letters already have designs on them, but if I were using plain letters, I could add something, myself.
4. Add the symbol, “&,” between the the two initials. I could put the “&” directly onto the page, but to make it more interesting, I decided to layer the “&” onto a 3-dimensional dot, which I then attached to my page.
Closing: Because this was a highly requested topic, I will do more episodes in the future with examples of layering items and embellishments.
