Layouts From A Previous Paperclipping Live

I haven’t had a chance to share the scrapbook pages from Dedra Long’s visit to Paperclipping Live a while ago. Here they are below…

Hello Kitty

two 12×12 pages
Hello Kitty
The photo on the left is myself around 4th grade–just a little older than my daughter, Trinity, in the photo on the right. I chose pictures of us in similarly shaped outfits and poses to emphasize the theme of commonality. Journaling reads: I adored Hello Kitty as a little girl and still do at age 36. I love her oval round face and the simplicity of her design. As a kid I didn’t get enough of her to feel satisfied so I love getting to enjoy her again through Trinity, who loves her too.

Layout By Dedra Long

Layout By Dedra Long
Journaling to her daughter reads: You and me spending time together…these are some of the times I cherish most…I always love to walk in the studio to see the newest setup you have put together…It usually look something like this…the princess laptop, crayons, paper and scissors…you usually have the princesses singing the alphabet and you join then…then it’s math…in the end you show me your latest work of art…I will never forget.

The Details

The Details
Almost all of the scrapbooking items on both layouts are from Theresa Collins. I salvaged all the Hello Kitty items from actual H.K. stuff–a backpack, a watch, party invitations, plus there are a few pictures. The spinner arrow underneath the tiny H.K. on the clock is a Tim Holtz spinner that I painted pink.

Want help layering embellishments the way you see them layered in the center circle? If you have a Paperclipping Membership, I recommend watching Paperclipping 94 where I showed the techniques and principles of layers that lead in a “crescendo” toward a climactic point.

I'm so happy you ladies found this helpful! Thank you.

    Noell,

I'm having trouble downloading the video. When I click on the low-fi or high quality versions, it automatically downloads into a temporary folder and the next program that pops up is Real Player which plays the audio, but shows no video.

    Any adice?

  • http://www.paperclipping.com Noell

That's no problem at all. You need to download the newest version of
QuickTime. Just go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime and you'll be able to watch
    it.

  • http://www.paperclipping.com Noell

    BTW, QuickTiime is free. =)

I use ussually other method, but I tried this one and didnt work for me, I have to try it again
    thanks for sharing that Noell

  • http://www.paperclipping.com Noell

Jana, I got an email from someone who was having difficulty with it. I don't know if you were having the same problem as her…this is what she said:

“I tired the fill layer technique and instead of just the word from Ali's kits filling in the entire rectangle of the layer filled in with color. What should I look for to correct this?”

    Here's my answer:

Sounds like you need to check the box that says, “Preserve Transparency.” That'll keep the background of the image transparent and only color the image itself.

    Hope that helps!

I'm having trouble as well. It attempts to load but never pops up. The video appears wider than most on my screen (horizontally much longer than others).

  • http://www.paperclipping.com Noell

Toni, we tried a new video player and it seems to have worked for some but
not others. Izzy is working on it right now. We'll fix it!!!

  • toni

Yay! I was able to view the video today, Noell.

  • Wendy

Great tutorial very easy to understand. Would it be possible to do a video tutorial on how you used photo shop on how to get 3 pictures into a collage as shown in the heritage paperclipping 99. How did you do the square around the 3 photos. Thank you learning lots from you archives videos. A new member Wendy

  • http://www.paperclipping.com Noell

Thank you for your Membership, Wendy!

And thanks for the suggestion. I had been planning on showing how to make a
collage in Elements with lines in-between the photos, like the Easter layout
I posted in the recent collage episode. I hadn't considered showing how to
do the square around three photos in the heritage layout. I'll put that on
my list of upcoming episodes to shoot. Thanks!

  • jessica

hello, i would like to see the free version, but the episode wil not start playing. The free version from episode 100 is also nog playing. Did something change?
    Kind regards, Jessica Postema.

  • http://www.paperclipping.com Noell

Hi, Jessica. Thanks for watching our videos. This one is for Paperclipping
Members, which can be confusing for people who are newer to our show.
Usually about every other week we put out a free episode for anyone (for
example, episodes 99 and 101 are free) and the other videos, like this one,
is for those who have purchased a Membership, but we like to post the
    pictures for anyone to see.

If you want to watch all of the episodes that are available for free, you
can look to the column on the left and there is a list with links. If you
want to find out about getting a Paperclipping Membership, please click
    here:

    So sorry about the confusion!
