The Digi Show

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

Jan 2011 3142

Did you hear what happened to the Paperclipping Digi Show?

Not a whole lot, actually. The only outward change you might notice is the mail. Or the male.

Izzy initially decided to produce the show because we saw a real need for digi scrappers to have a talk show similar to the Roundtable.

But he’s been needing to focus his efforts differently so we’ve given the show completely to its host, Steph from The Daily Digi!

(Side note – that’s Steph in the middle of the photo, next to Nancy and me).

(Additional side note – The Paperclipping Roundtable will stay the same as it’s always been).

So it’s no longer the Paperclipping Digi Show. It’s now The Digi Show.

And it sounds like the same old show!

Well, except for the mail/male segment.

Katie’s reading the mail instead of Izzy. So you can’t expect that part to sound the same.

Anyway, go check it out if you hadn’t already heard and found your way over!

Here’s What Everybody’s Saying

Design Your Story - Photo Clips

Okay, I won’t exaggerate. It’s only what one person said. But a bunch of others are saying similar things.

From Deb:

Lain,

The superstar of True Crack, uh, I mean Scrap!
I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun, all the while learning some great tips and tricks. I am so looking forward to the next event. The content for this event encompassed so many topics from color to texture to design to photography to journaling – can’t imagine what would make the next event better.

I loved the classes on stamping and photography and hope they are included in the October event. Even though I did not participate in the make -n- takes, I did learn some great techniques and hope these, too, will be a part of the next event.

Found great inspiration in every presentation.

Even though the technical difficulties created chaos, your efforts to make this maiden voyage the best possible should be applauded.

Thanks again!

Take care
Deb Hawkins

In Case You Missed True Scrap!

I’m telling you about all the great feedback because it encouraged Lain to decide to hold a second event in October.

And because you can still purchase the replays of all the classes, make-and-takes, and the keynote address from this past one!

So here is what seven other people are saying about True Scrap I:

True Scrap Poster

“What are the biggest questions you have about design?

I’d love to answer some in my True Scrap class April 7-9.

I’m working on my class presentation today and I can’t wait! There will be thirty minutes after my presentation to answer your design questions, so if you’re attending this event, you might want to have questions ready.

If you haven’t heard of this event with teachers like Ali Edwards, Shimelle Laine, myself and others, please click here to see what it’s all about!

And there will be blog posts by me every day, just as usual! So stick around — I’ll even give you a sneak peek of things to come…

The Last of CHA 2011 – Photos!

Friday, March 4th, 2011

We have posted every last video we made from CHA! There are a lot of companies that I love that we missed. We completely ran out of time this year. We shot our last video past the moment it was time for us to head out of town and then we literally dragged our equipment out of the conference center and into the conference center garage where we got into the car and drove home!

Here are the rest of the pictures I haven’t had time to post until now.

Pantone Cookies
Here’s a funny story. Izzy had found a picture online of some rectangular-shaped cookies. They had beautiful colored frosting on the top two thirds. The bottom third was white with a Pantone number written in black edible pen! They were Pantone color chip cookies!

I emailed the picture to Stacy Julian and told her that if we were on top of things, Izzy and I would bake those for her and send them to her (being the lover of color that she is!).

Jan2011 2917

Well guess what? Stacy pulled out this bright green bag and outdid us by handing those same cookies to all of us! Awesomeness. I love that lady!

Here’s me getting hyped up on the anticipation of sugar, and pulling out the cheesiest smile I can muster. Just for the fun of it.

And then we got very serious as we listened to Ana Cabrera tell us about angry adhesives.
Jan2011 2925

It’s a very serious matter.
Jan2011 2927

See? Even Stacy thinks so.
Jan2011 2929

But Izzy? Not so much. This boy cannot get serious. Not even when we’re talking about angry adhesives.

If you missed this crazy fun recording of the CHA episode of the Paperclipping Roundtable you can listen here!

See you next year, CHA!

Oh, in case you were confused, there are two more letters on my shirt that you can’t see in the picture. Below the HO is a PE. Just thought I’d clarify so we have no questions floating around here. :)

Izzy's Steadicam
The camera man has attached new gear to himself for the Craft & Hobby Association Trade Show! Izzy actually purchased this for his cinematic projects, but hurray for scrapbookers — it will make our video tours of all the new and upcoming scrapbooking products even better. The video will be smoother!

Noell & Izzy at D'Vine Wine and Bistro

I’m blogging this from the road. Izzy and I are excited to bring to you the fun and excitement of the next four days! You can expect lots of videos to begin going up here on the blog later on Saturday and over the next little while with videos of the scrapbook industry’s newest products. Be sure to come back often to keep up!

And while I’m here, I can’t help posting a closer look Izzy’s newest tool!

A Toast To 2007.JPG

2010 was a fantastic year for Paperclipping!

What do we have to celebrate right now?

  1. Experienced huge growth in 2010
  2. Launched the Paperclipping Roundtable
  3. Launched the Paperclipping Digi Show
  4. Honored with Most Influential Scrapbooker award
  5. Paperclipping Life Books donation drive
  6. Built a new recording studio

OMG! Huge Growth!

Visits to Paperclipping more than doubled in 2010. Take a look:

2009: 131,287 visits to this website
2010: 280,851 visits to this website

Additionally, more and more people are becoming Paperclipping Members. In fact, 1,570 people have signed up to be Paperclipping Members. We’re so excited to see that our membership has grown to this size.

Our members are the most loyal and cherished audience members. If you’re not a member, and you enjoy the Roundtable or other things we produce, you should kiss a member and tell them thank you, because the members make everything we do possible. ;-)

7,056 scrapbookers are currently receiving email updates to stay in touch with the almost daily activities around here.

The Paperclipping Roundtable

January 4037
One year ago this week we launched the Paperclipping Roundtable! It has been downloaded 90,670 times!

There was nothing like this in the industry. Some were skeptical as to whether an audio show made sense for something as visual as scrapbooking. It definitely made sense. According to Stacy Julian, founder of Simple Scrapbook Magazines and Big Picture Classes, Paperclipping has “changed the way we talk about scrapbooking.”

In fact, some of the industry’s most loved people like Ali Edwards, Cathy Zielske, and Stacy herself have jumped on board to be a part of the show!

The Paperclipping Digi Show

The Paperclipping Roundtable was such a huge hit, even among digital scrapbookers, that we launched a second audio show — the Paperclipping Digi Show!

Steph from the Daily Digi hosts this show. She’s amazing, and we love her. Her choices in guests and topics are awesome! Digi Show numbers? So far, this ‘new kid on the block’ has been downloaded 43,323 times!

Most Influential Scrapbooker Award

Ella Publishing announced who they believed to be the top 9 Most Influential Scrapbookers of 2010. I was thrilled that they chose me as one of those nine!

Paperclipping Life Books Donation Drive

For (Inter)National Scrapbook Day last May, I partnered with Roxane Apple of Shared Scraps to run a scrapbook supply donation drive. Local scrapbook stores got involved and the Paperclipping audience donated a total of 640 pounds of supplies for the making of Life Books for children under the care of the state!

New Recording Studio

June 2010 139
Over the summer we were able to move our audio and video studios out of our living room and bedroom! We had our garage turned into a studio that never has to be taken down.

Of course, we had our other fun events — video and audio reporting from the Winter Craft and Hobby Association Trade show, Paperclipping Live! (our live-broadcasted show), the Paperclipping Festival for members to share something they’ve learned, and the Holiday Photography Tips Course for our Members.

Paperclipping in 2011

We have a number of special edition tutorials or classes we want to launch this year. The first one is in the works. I’m currently putting together a comprehensive in-depth course on design and the use of design principles for scrapbooking.

Once that is launched, I will choose from among these topics for the next project:

  • Aperture training — how to use Apple’s photo editing and managing software, Aperture.
  • Flexible Templates — an eBook of my Flexible Templates
  • An album workshop — I don’t want to share the topic of this yet, but there is a themed album I am putting together and would like to teach as a workshop. It would probably have weekly assignments and it might last between two and three months.
  • A mini-book workshop — again, I’m not ready to share the topic on this, but it would involve simple daily assignments and would last thirty days.
  • A die cutting course using the Big Shot.

I have other ideas as well, but there is only so much we can do in one year! I don’t know which of these we will prioritize for this year. Please help me out! What events did you enjoy last year in 2010, and what projects would you be most interested in for 2011?

And most importantly, thank you to all you scrapbookers who have made Paperclipping a major part of your scrapbooking experience!
