I wanted to make my own cards this year, but since we’re past a week into December, I realize I’m running out of time to hand-make that many. I’ll be buying most of mine now, but I’m still making some here and there as I have a few minutes. You’ll recognize two of those as leftovers from the holiday containers I made.

Christmas Tree Card
(3×6 cardstock with 1.5 inch squares)

This card above so simple to put together. Lay three strips of double-sided tape in vertical columns down the folded cardstock so that when you put your squares on, the tape will run down the middle of each column of squares. Then rub the edges of the card with a good glue stick. Make two more lines of glue in-between the strips of tape and add your patterned paper. Finish it off with a large embellishment, such as a glittered Christmas tree traced from a cookie cutter.

Hope or Winter Solstice Card
(3×6 stiff patterned paper)

I found this picture of people celebrating on the earth on the front of a pamphlet from my coffee shop. I automatically thought of Christmas, since to me, Christmas is a time to celebrate hope. This card is especially perfect for those who celebrate the Winter Solstice and I’ll be sending this to one of my friends who does.

Remember to pay attention to images you find in some of the stuff you normally throw away.

Star Card
(3×6 cardstock with 1.5 inch squares)
You can easily turn this into a Hanukkah card by making a Star of David instead of the type of star you see here.
