Paperclipping 129 – Holiday Table Decor

You need the free Flash Player to view this video.

If you’re not a Paperclipping Member, you can click on the video above or download the Quicktime version to get a look at my two holiday tables for this year. The full tutorial has already been released to our members.

Because I get so many emails asking where to get the supplies I use, I am trying an experiment. I just signed up as an affiliate with Scrapbook.com and I will try posting links to many of the supplies I use. If you click on the links and purchase any of the products, I will receive a commission. The price of the products remain the same for you. I’m concerned about having the time to do this regularly, but we’ll give it a try…

Imaginisce I-Top tool
Many of you saw me experimenting with the iTop Tool during Paperclipping Live using two pieces of fabric and the large-sized brads. The bulkiness of two fabrics made it a little more tricky to put the brad together the traditional way. In today’s episode you’ll see that I figured out a different way to put these together using the iTop Tool. It was so easy I was able to make my last 8 brads in less than ten minutes.

A Question For You

If you’ll take a minute to leave a comment, I’m curious to know: Do you decorate your table for holiday meals? If so, do you decorate your holiday tables pretty much the same way every year, or do you like to change it up and design a new table every time?

  • I don't really decorate my table nor does my mom, but we try, at least, to use a fancier tablecloth and red or Santa napkins.

We also use nice glasses and better silverware.

    BTW, nice tags!
  • You just sparked a new question I'd love to hear from others: if you go all
out with decorating the dinner table, did your mother do that also? Or if
you don't, did your mother also not do it? My mother always did and her
mother did and my dad's mother did.

But my husband's mother does not and neither do her children. It doesn't
feel like a holiday meal to me if it's not decorated but they probably see
the table decorating as a distraction from other things they'd prefer to do
    for the holidays.

BTW, personally, my tables usually look different from year to year.

I always decorate the table, usually more with found or nature items, pinecones, acorns, leaves, and for Christmas silver and clear balls or Paperwhites. I have decorated mini pinecones I brought back from a vacation in North Florida and brushed the tips with glue and add clear or white glitter, then added a tiny screw eye and ribbon to make ornaments or package decorations. Love the tag idea and will try to work on that for Thanksgiving, hope I can get it done on time. Can't wait to see how you use them for a mini book for Paperclipping live tonight.
  • Ooh, I love the idea of using pine cones for gift decorations. What are
    Paperwhites, Shanon?
  • shannonvan
Paperwhites are a bulb that can be grown indoors, they have a wonderful smelling white flower, you can usually find kits with the bulb and pot in Target, or home improvement stores, as well as just buying the bulbs at garden centers.

I do decorate and usually add something different from year to year. I have pinecone shaped candlestick holders and a fall coloured tablecloth that come out every year. Sometimes I add flowers or gourds or something paper on top. My mother didn't decorate the table. Her focus was on the food and pretty serving dishes.
  • ¡I've got the tags!

I attended an arts & crafts fair yesterday and bought the tags to share with a friend :)
  • Yay! Enjoy them! :)
