Paperclipping 107 – Make Your Vacation Album More Meaningful

paperclipping 107

While there is nothing wrong with a vacation album or minibook that simply highlights the trip’s activities, there are some trips that add up to more than just that list. Some vacations impact you at a deeper level than the exciting agenda can show.

For today’s episode, I’ll share a vacation minibook I made for a trip like that. I’ll share how I found connections among my memories of the trip that led to a theme which I carried through the entire book. Many of us will have family vacations to document this summer, and I hope this episode gives you a new way to think about how you can approach your album or mini.

  • Very impressive album. The color compensates with the photos. Nice when reminiscing vacation tours.

I really enjoyed this video. I can't definitely see how I might use that pattern findind technique in the future. Thanks
  • My husband was listening in as I watched the podcast, and I think he missed the point! He said, "You mean, she went to Sedona and spent a lot of time in her hotel room watching TV and on the computer????? Why???" I tried to tell him that it was more about focusing on the authentic story of what really went on (and the corresponding thoughts and feelings) rather than a recommendation that THAT was how everyone should spend their Sedona vacations!

That aside, I really liked this episode as it helps me to continue to push my creative envelope in thinking about what the story really is.

  • Very inspiring! You're motivating me to create a "Two of Us" album for my bf & I... Thanks and great job!
  • first I want to tell you that your site is looking AWESOME, Noel!

I love the point you make about making it personal and looking for patterns. so smart and very inspiring. Thank you. happy weekend.
  • I still haven't done my vacation album from last Summer. This episode may help me a lot; I don't want to make just a vacation album since it was our first Summer vacation together...

    I'll tell you about it...

I did a "Two of Us" album, in fact it was the CK kit of the month about a year ago. While it wasn't to document a vacation, it reminds me of the one you showed. It doesn't look like yours, however, the theme was similar. It remains one of my favorite mini books. So fun to document an important relationship. Your "gate" album is so gorgeous. Marcy :)
