Cindy, thanks for sharing that. I know much of the audience has a lot of
genealogical stuff going on and may want to do something similar. When you
say you organize them by color for the four different lines/last names,
where does the color go? Is it the color of the page? Oh...I'll probably
figure that out when I head over there to see...

=)

Noell,
I have approached my heritage scrapbook from a genealogy perspective more than a traditional scrapbook. My organization is by colour for each of the four family names. My parents' last names and my husband's parents' last names. I will post some photos on the Crop Circle community pages. There is not much of a story being told other than the relationships, birth and death dates, and any significant fact (like served in WWII), etc. I found starting with the current generation and going back in time the most logical for me as I have collected my information that way. I used a smaller format (8" x 8") and added a "family group sheet" (list of each child born for the couple) for each page. It may make it more sterile than a story based scrapbook, but that was my way of documenting the information in a more pleasing format. See my page at the Crop Circle for photos.
CindyS

Wow! Great timing!!! I just begun planning my heritage album (around November to you tell the truth...) I've collected 2 full shoeboxes from my family with photos, negatives, slides, polaroids...everything! These where loosely around various places (next... albums are coming!). Started scanning them (I'm halfway 1st box) and still I have to collect albums and photos from members of the wider family. And haven't started the same process wtih my husband's family yet! (I have photos from his childhood but I'm going for the "big picture"... I hope you understand what I mean...) I think I'm kinda slow, but I scan and rescan if I don't like what I see (call me perfectionist lol!) and maybe I'll use originals but so far I think I'll use the scanned ones and preserve the originals properly... we'll see (I want to see what memorabilia I'll manage to collect)
Thank you for the inspiration. This was a very nice and usefull video!

Great episode. I haven't begun to really do anything with heritage stuff, mostly for the reasons you talked about in your podcast. I love that you were able to do some embellishing to the photos without detracting from them.

So, this is the 99th episode? Wow....you sure are evolving, and it's fun to be a part of the evolution! Anything special planned for the 100th episode?

Karen

Thanks for the great heritage album ideas, Noell. And as for photo corners, they were always a bit of a pain for me to apply. I use them often, any time I don't want to tape a photo down, as I don't save backups of any of my photos (other than counting the hosting site where I printed from). Just not something I care to do; never saved negatives either. So the corners are important to me and I know I'll appreciate applying them with greater ease now.
Blessings,
~Toni~
