Two Layouts For My Husband, Courtesy Of The Treasure Box Club

Let’s take a little break from our series on Vacation Scrapbooks so that I can review the kit club, The Treasure Box Club. They sent me two of their kits to try. Right now I am just posting the layouts but I will be back in a while to post my review of the kit club.

Dramatic Birthday Boy Wishes

The first section of journaling reads: You can’t even blow out your candles without infusing some hilarity into it. This is why I love you.

The larger journaling block reads:
You made it clear forever ago that you wanted no birthday parties and you like to keep your social circles separate. **Then your 35th birthday crept up.** One night at dinner you announced to the kids and I that you wanted us to throw you a “surprise” party. HUH? I questioned you over and over again. I thought you were joking. But we scheduled your party for after the day to give you a real surprise. Of course, Trinity revealed the surprise and then Blake told you your gift. So there were no surprises. Just lots of fun with family and friends and your humor.

Pencil Lines Sketch

I based the above layout on a sketch challenge from Pencil Lines, which is a really great place to see how people can use a sketch as a jumping off point, rather than as a crutch. If you’ve never been to that site, I recommend you check it out.

The Best Decision

Journaling reads: I couldn’t possibly have known you well enough in just two weeks to decide to marry you. In so many ways that decision was naive and immature. And yet, all the things I believed about you were right. You were exactly what I summed you up to be during those 2 weeks. You have goals. You make things happen. You’re real and you allow me to be real. You’re fun and funny–oh my gosh, so totally funny! You’re smart. You are peaceful and supportive. You pull out the very best in me. Marrying you was the best decision of my life.

I’m so glad I did it. I’m glad we rushed it. I love you so much, babe.

Great LO's Noell! Great moments to capture and remember. Just wondering if you are able to share the LO that was published as I have never seen that magaine before (im not sure how all the rules work with publishing), Congrats anyway!
  • Thanks, Sandy. When you pub with MM you agree by contract not to post layouts that you have pubbed in their mag. It helps them stay competitive. Poor mag's are struggling to keep up with the internet, so I don't mind. I suppose someone could take a pic of the magazine page???
  • Love both layouts. Love that Izzy will wear lavender (it's pulling teeth over here just to get him in muted light green, lol). And just a little glimpse from the other end of the spectrum; I don't recommend an extended courtship either. We dated for eight *years* before marrying (ouch, I know). And during those eight years, he went away to college, then I did after he came home, I moved to CA from the midwest, then when I came home he moved to SC. And still I can honestly say we're very happily married. When it's right, it's so very right, regardless of how quickly or delayed the trip to the alter is.
    Blessings,
    ~Toni~
  • Izzy does all his own shopping. =)

  • Amy
yes Noell congrats on the publish love the colors in the layout a ton-----so funny that layout caught my eye my first go round through the magazine and I thought the lady looked familiar but, didn't have time to read about it yet, but now I know why she looked so familiar, you look so much like your mother but, especially Trinity does. SHe must have reminded me of the two of you!!! Anyway bursting with pride for you congrats! Amy
  • Yes, I think Trinity looks a lot like my mom. It's funny because she's a really good blend between grandmothers on different sides--my mom and Israel's birth-mom (she died when he was a toddler). Someday I'm going to hunt down the perfect photos and do a layout about it. She has facial expressions that look like each of them.
  • That would be a great layout... love comparisons layouts of family members looks/traits. :)
  • OH, totally forgot to congratulate you on the fab layout in the Memory Makers Mag... awesome! (pg. 62 of the Sept/Oct issue if anyone wants to check it out)
  • Thank you!
  • What COOL layouts, Ms. Noell!

I was pretty shocked to read that you only knew each other 2 weeks, but then I remembered I was engaged in only a couple months as well with my hubby (of 14 years now!)... I just KNEW he was IT. Time has nothing to do with it (but I won't be advocating that either with my son, LOL!)

I haven't checked out pencil lines... will do that today. Thanks!
  • Christine
Wow, that second layout should be framed! How lucky to love someone so much and have them love you the same! So many people don't realize what a gift it is, and some will never even know it. Congrats to the both of you and the life you have together!
  • Thanks, Christine.
  • Great layouts!
Happy belated birthday to Izzie and happy anniversary to the both of you. So glad things have worked out so happily for you two crazy kids.
  • Hey, girl! Thank you!
  • Holy mackeral andy!!! I'm shocked! You and Izzy appear to be such intelligent and mature people that it's hard to imagine you doing anything SO IMPULSIVE! Wow. Amazing how things work out.

Don't know when your anniversary is but HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! You guys deserve it!
  • "Appear" is the key-word here, Eileen, lol! All these years I've chalked our marital success to mostly luck, and a little to the fact that we're both flexible where we need to be, we accept each other's differences, and because Israel's so dang fun and hot. ;)

But over the last year I've also looked back over my life and I feel like I have a pretty good history of good decision-making. Israel and I both dated a lot of people before we found each other. We knew ourselves well and we knew what we needed/wanted. That layout is about the fact that I accurately identified his character in the beginning--so I think some of it was some good decision-making, even if it seemed hasty.

One thing about Israel and I both is that once we start looking in a certain direction, we plunge forward, even if we're stumbling half-blind.
  • Amy
Wow Noell 2 weeks and married, for real you are totally interesting, I would love to go out one night with you and hear about your life and past---------You might say immature and stupid but I say brave and adventurous! And look at what a great decision it was and is! Love how you bottom heavied the second layout with photos from the two of you's life and the photo above is gorgeous Fits all together so well to display the theme of the layout. WOuld love to see an wedding photo and hear that story! Amy

PS don't tell my daughter i said brave and adventurous LOL!
  • By the way, I dream of having a night out with the Paperclipping girls. Or a weekend retreat. You know, so we can really get to know each other. That would be fun.
  • LOL--don't tell my daughter!!! Yeah, I've wondered whether to tell my kids our story, too!

We were actually engaged for 2.5 months before we married, so it was two weeks before he proposed and I said yes. We were both scared out of our minds during that engagement. It was like, WHAT ARE WE DOING? and BUT WE REALLY WANT TO! all at the same time!

Thanks for the specific compliments on the layout. Those are my favorite features, too.
