Paperclipping 37 - Scrapbooking With Kids

I will be back later to add the show notes.
In this episode I make a big announcement. You may have already noticed a few changes on the website. You can go to the Membership Information page of this site to find out more.

That was the cutest video ever! Your kids are adorable. I think it is great that you don’t teach them techniques! It looks like they are doing pretty well on their own!

That was awesome, Noell. My kids stood here and watched the whole thing. They got such a kick out of Aiden at the end of the video. Love their independent work.
Blessings,
~Toni~

Your kids are too cute! Thanks for the great tips on how to scrapbook with children. I dream of the day when my little one is old enough to want to play around with crafts. She’s just turning 1 next week!

Super cute video Noell!!!
I’ll have to get some of those albums for my girls….
That would make it much easier for them, right now they just
make pages but they are not in an album….So, the album you
featured would be perfect….
Talk to you soon!!!
Hugs…

This was soo cute. My 8 year old has been begging me to scrapbook and I have NO idea where to start her. I definitely agree with letting them express their selves the way they see fit. This really has prompted me to get this going for her!!!

Great video-thanks for all the tips. My little one always wants to help me so these ideas are great.

TOO CUTE! What a great video. I love the idea of just letting them go free with their ideas AND how you give them the quality products to use. Most scrappers would hoard their good stuff and give the kids some construction paper but if you start them out with good quality, they’ll grow to love the craft even more than we do!
Congrats on a great show!

That was just so adorable! I love the fact that your children scrap with you. Good luck with your new changes.

I have 8 little ones and almost all of them “scrapbook” in some form or another. I give them real supplies that are appropriate and easy for them to use and let them have at it! One of my daughters has pictures hanging off the pages in her albums. It cracks me up, but she loves it! If they learn from the start that there are no “rules” in scrapbooking, I think they will feel free to express themselves in any way that they like to. Great video! My 7 year olds loved it too and want to know how come I don’t put them on the computer! :)
I signed up right away for membership, but can’t find where to sign in. Is there a magic trick that I don’t know about? Secret handshake or something? Ha!

Noell, your kids are just too cute! I love to have my son scrapbook, he has a lot of fun doing what I’m doing.

My 8 year old daughter has been scrapping with me for years and I have also gone with a “hands off” approach. She’ll ask me to show her how to use some of the tools and embellies and away she goes! Thanks for this video, you have helped validate my theory…and eased any guilty suspicions that I was just being a lazy mom. lol
I’ll definitely have to show this episode to my daughter.
Thanks again.

Noell, thank you for this video and the hints on how to let your kids scrap with ya. My granddaughter has her own style and before I would have interfered with it by telling her how to do some of the techniques instead of letting her learn to express her art.
From now on I’ll let her “do her own thing” no matter what !!

Noell, I just loved that segment! Your family is beautiful. I loved Aiden’s faces he was making for the camera. My children also have books that they work on.
Thanks for sharing this.

Noell, that was FANTASTIC. I want to scrapbook with my kids now. I’m wondering how old they were when you started with them? I have an almost 8 year old, a 3 year old and well, a too young right now, 9 month old. I’ve done a littl bit with my 8 yo but would love to try and get my 3 yo interested. You’ve definitely inspired me!!!! Thank you for such a great episode and your kids are just beautiful. They did a great job with their books and showing off their pages. Thank you.
Also, congrats on your new venture. I can’t wait to read about it.

What adorable children! I totally agree. My 5.5 yo son comes down & just asks for stuff and builds his pages. I let him place everything and pick out everything himself. Even for my 2.5yo girl has a couple more cards sized items she’s done.

Precioso video. Tus hijos son guapisimos, el mayor se parece mucho a ti. Lastima que no entiendo el idioma, pero por la expresion de sus caritas, lo estaban disffrutando mucho.Enhorabuena.

[...] Skräppäystä lasten kanssa huhtikuu 11, 2008 Posted by omuli in Skräppäys. trackback Eilen lapset pyysivät saada skräpätä kanssani.
