Paperclipping Live

Monday, December 10th, 2007

…is right now. 6:30pm MST until about 8:30pm. Click here to see how I work (play) and feel free to join the chat room to tell me what you’re doing or ask me questions.

Schedule For Paperclipping Live

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

As of January, I will be scrapbooking live every Tuesday night at 6:30pm MST until about 8:30pm. On those evenings, you can go straight to the live camera page at www.paperclipping.com/live. Or you can come here to the home page where I will post a blog entry with a link to the live page.

This month is full of Christmas activities but I will do the Live Show Monday, Dec. 10th at 6:30pm MST, and again the following week on Tuesday, Dec. 18th, same time. Then Paperclipping Live will take a break through the holidays (although, you’ll still have other Paperclipping features to enjoy).

In the future I hope to add a morning live show, as well.

See you Monday night!

Easy Last Minute Christmas Cards

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

I wanted to make my own cards this year, but since we’re past a week into December, I realize I’m running out of time to hand-make that many. I’ll be buying most of mine now, but I’m still making some here and there as I have a few minutes. You’ll recognize two of those as leftovers from the holiday containers I made.

Christmas Tree Card
(3×6 cardstock with 1.5 inch squares)

This card above so simple to put together. Lay three strips of double-sided tape in vertical columns down the folded cardstock so that when you put your squares on, the tape will run down the middle of each column of squares. Then rub the edges of the card with a good glue stick. Make two more lines of glue in-between the strips of tape and add your patterned paper. Finish it off with a large embellishment, such as a glittered Christmas tree traced from a cookie cutter.

Hope or Winter Solstice Card
(3×6 stiff patterned paper)

I found this picture of people celebrating on the earth on the front of a pamphlet from my coffee shop. I automatically thought of Christmas, since to me, Christmas is a time to celebrate hope. This card is especially perfect for those who celebrate the Winter Solstice and I’ll be sending this to one of my friends who does.

Remember to pay attention to images you find in some of the stuff you normally throw away.

Star Card
(3×6 cardstock with 1.5 inch squares)
You can easily turn this into a Hanukkah card by making a Star of David instead of the type of star you see here.

Holiday Cookie Containers

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

These are the goodie boxes from the last episode of paperclipping. I save reusable food containers all year for altering into party favors, and this year, for our Christmas cookies to give away.

How To

1. Lightly sand. You only need to do this if your container has a smooth waxy coating.
2. Choose at least 6 different coordinating patterns. I used 8 on the red and green containers.
3. Punch squares from patterned paper. I used a 1.5 inch punch.
4. Begin by making a vertical row of squares down the corners of the container.
5. Brush enough white glue to adhere one square. Lay a square down and press down your fingers.
6. Continue until all corners are done and then fill in the sides.
7. Rub down any corners or sides that are lifting up with your finger or brush. Then brush a layer of glue over entire container.

The containers are cute as they are, but you can add embellishments, too. I used my cookie cutters to trace shapes on a page from an old book that I am preparing to alter.

Are you giving away goodies this year? I am. But I’m tired of piling them onto awkward paper plates. Instead, I made some festive containers and in this episode I show you, step-by-step, how to do it.

I Am On Live At UStreamTV

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

…starting at 9:45am MST. I can’t be super chatty today because I have projects due and I need to focus on completing them. But please feel free to join the chat room and tell me what you’re doing. I’ll answer any questions I notice in the chat room and speak up once in a while about what I’m doing.

After last night’s broadcast, Liz said, “I was just thinking how fun this would be…it’d be like going to a crop with you!” I love this idea of a crop, so we’ll definitely have some energetic fun crop parties in the future. For typical days, it’ll be more tranquil.
