I created this layout for two different challenges:
MamaSaysOm Each week the Mamas pick a theme to explore in writing, art, photography, or whatever medium moves them. This week’s theme: Time.
AliEdwardsNewsletter This week I challenged you to “try on” someone else’s style.
More specifically, Ali’s challenge was to scraplift from someone else, adjusting elements that don’t feel right, and “trying on” new elements that do. It seems to me that this not only helps us to grow and evolve our own style, it also helps us identify characteristics that are true to ourselves.
My confession is that I didn’t scraplift from anyone. I tried the vintage style for the first time. But I didn’t look at anyone else’s work before doing this one. I just wanted to do it. You could say I scraplifted from a store. I went to a vintage scrap shop to get a feel for the style, to get ideas, and also to get new supplies (like the yummy Tim Holtz stamp you see peeking out behind the pictures).
Journaling: Aiden-I got you to preschool age; got my nine hours of weekly independence. You can stop growing now. Just stay where you are forever. Tiny and cute. Be my forever-three-year-old, little Aiden. Love, Mommy.
(The writing in other areas say, I adore you at three. Okay…you can stop growing now...).
